Mei Lynn was born in Japan and grew up there with her Japanese mother and her US-American father. Her father worked for the US military and was transferred to Germany when Mei was eight. The family came with him and built a new life in Germany. For Mei, it was a hard break: new language, new school, strange surroundings. Even in Japan she loved rock, punk and especially J-rock because that music sounded wild, melodic and free to her. In Erlangen, the next ten years looked uneventful from the outside, but musically she kept searching for her style. At 18 she went to a small concert, met Zoey Brown and was noticed by Rebel Girl. After that she desperately wanted to join Rebel Girl FM. Her trial period became a rite of passage: two hours of radio alone, J-rock/punk energy and the constant fear that her strict mother might find out about the chaos radio and the station's escalations.
